modaspia is a dress line based in the sierra foothills of california and produced locally in the san francisco bay area. a soft silhouette, loose fit, and childlike charm describe it’s look. inspiration comes from countless old fairy tale books – an endless source of unusual color combinations and antiquated dressing details that translate beautifully into the modern girl’s wardrobe.

ursula dean has been designing clothes for 10 years. after working for a small design studio, she started her own dress line in 2001 while pregnant with her son marcello. wilkes bashford was one of her first customers. she has a degree in english from san diego state university.

formerly a co-designer, best friend oami powers now creates in-house prints for modaspia as well as the delicate flower appliques everyone’s come to love.

modaspia aims to create clothing that becomes a keepsake, something coveted and special to it’s owner that stands the test of time.
